Trim Strips weight loss scam?

25 May

Oh yes, it’s that time again when I stumble across some weight loss marketing material that makes me laugh and feel concerned all at the same time. This time I’m talking about the “new weight loss phenomenon” Trim Strips. I thought this may interest those weight loss fad lovers.

My colleague brought an envelope to work today to show me the hilarious contents that she had been sent. Mass mail, direct from Brunei… as well as Amsterdam. Hmmm already reeks of scam! This envelope had photos of skinny models on the front and contained 6 separate pamphlets all saying practically the same thing about Trim Strips, this miracle weight-loss product.

The highlights of the pack for me:

  • The ingredients list… they wont say what the ingredients are because “chinese companies may counterfeit“. *cough* scam *cough*
  • You can lose weight INSTANTLY” wow! I wonder if the person will morph right before my eyes
  • Trim Strips are totally NEW – they go to work as soon as they touch your tounge so NO waiting for pills to dissolve in your stomach“. yet again will I see someone morph before my eyes when they take this strip instead of waiting 3 hours for a tablet to digest?
  • The sheer number of pamphlets in the envelope which say the same thing as each other but in different words.
  • The pamphlet that was titled “Open now ONLY if you decided not to order Trim Strips” and says that if I don’t want to take up exhausting exercise regimes that I should buy this product. also “if you say “ive tried other products before and they didn’t work” I don’t blame you. But remember, Trim Strips are NEW and the ingredients (which weren’t named remember) are proven to work
  • The name of the company selling this is not mentioned anywhere on the pamphlets or even on the replied paid envelope.
  • There is no website to learn more about Trim Strips either which is very strange in this day and age of consumer knowledge and research.
  • The envelope came from Brunei but you send your $189 to Amsterdam.
  • The photo of “Dr Andrew Gower” who looks like his photo has been taken from a stock images library. (Look at his kooky expression in the image below, click to enlarge it)

See the photo of the "doctor" that looks like it's from a stock image library, and the list of secret ingredients

Wow an undisclosed "cocktail" of ingredients and I don't have to exercise? I can just keep eating as much as I want and not move from my chair and I'll be "the skinny one"?! I'll buy 50!

Are you laughing at the terrible marketing of this yet? I would like to point out that I am not a doctor, but I do have a marketing degree and good common sense. Maybe this product does work, but from a marketing perspective I think most people would see this envelope in the mail and throw it away because it’s just not credible.

I ask myself, why is this company mass mailing people? Why haven’t they used their money to get this product in health food stores or supermarkets and then created credible ad campaigns around it? Smells scammy.

Once again, I am not a doctor but please don’t get sucked into fads that make weight loss appear to be easy. Please visit your doctor or dietitian who can run blood tests on you and find the correct diet and assistance for you in a safe and healthy manner. Exercise and a healthy diet is important for EVERYONE please do not be fooled by quick fix solutions, it’s like gambling with your money and your health.

Note to self: Find some old packets of Listerine mint mouth strips, tear off the label and write “weight loss inside” on the front and sell them to people for $180!!! Thats what this sure looks like to me.

i just received one of these today in the mail. (i’m in australia)
my first thoughts were, what the hell is this and how did they get my address?
when i actually started reading through the multiple pages all saying the same thing, they gave me a good laugh.
i really hope nobody falls for what looks like (is) a complete, obvious scam too me.
glad to see somebody else jumped straight on the internet to find out what the deal was.

i found you doing a quick google search for “trim strip weight loss” your page was actually the only one other then hoodia strips to contain all four words. check out the hoodia strips, they look exactly like those listerine mouth strips!

    • belindabel May 26, 2010 at 11:47 pm #

Hi Sandee. I’m glad to see that you had a laugh too! We spent hours laughing in our office about it. I really hope that nobody falls for it out of desperation.

I got one of these letters in the mail this week also (I too am in Australia).
It all sounds way to good to be true which is the immediate “scam alert” and looks a bit dodgy as well but from past experience I have learnt to research before judging things and the first site I came upon was yours so thanks for confirming my suspicions these people are ridiculous and I really hope people have the brains to not fall for this crap.

  3. Karina June 5, 2010 at 4:47 am #

I too am in Australia and received this envelope today, I also was confused as to how they got my address as we had just moved in the last few months. I was actually very tempted to give it a try but am glad to have done a search online as i have learnt to do with most things these days to check on its credability. I would love to hear from someone who has actually tried the product personally!!

    • belindabel June 5, 2010 at 5:19 am #

Oh Karina please promise me that you wont buy it!!! Look at it! Does it look credible to you? Where is their official website? Why have they got 2 different countrys involved in this mailout? It stinks so high of a scam! Please please dont! Your money would be better spent on a trip to a dietition or a doctor to help you out in a healthy way. Or, if you really feel like giving your money away it would be better to donate it to a charity than to someone in Amsterdam or Brunei who will steal it. Please don’t fall for this scam! Best wishes!

Thought I’ll add in my experience – since none of the responses above are actual buyers or users – but I AM. I must admit I had some doubts initially about TrimStrips when my husband showed me the offer we recieved in the mail, but I decided to go ahead to make an order in Jun 2010 since the innovative aspect of a mouth strip which did double-duty as a slimming aid appealed to us, and I figured I had nothing to lose, as they offered a money-back guarantee. (I was struggling with substantial weight gain due to the effects of working extra-long hours and eating a huge dinner late at night when I got back home exausted from a long day of work).

I couldn’t tell you what are the mechanics of how exactly TrimStrips worked, but I weighed myself before and after the week I started the program and LOST 3 KG, and can now fit back into the clothes which used to be too tight!! I’m not a chemist or biologist (so cannot claim to know all the technical details of fat-burning ingredients), but I am sure GLAD medical science is now so ADVANCED that laboratories are able to safely manufacture a compact, convenient and affordable slimming product containing key ingredients for fat burning, at an affordable price. I’m sure TrimStrips will become a famous household brand very soon, so I will be sure to stock up quickly for me and my husband (who is also struggling with weight gain this year) before everyone catches on and stocks run out!

    • belindabel June 15, 2010 at 10:44 am #

Katrine, i’m glad that it worked for you but do you really think it’s healthy? Where did you send your money to? So you have lost 3kg in a few weeks? Also…. if you ordered in June, they shipped it off very fast for you to have recieved it and tried it and lost weight so fast.

      • allison June 25, 2010 at 2:37 am #

        …..it is all natural ingredients

  5. mary June 15, 2010 at 10:10 am #

hi i got one of these envelopes discussed it with my husband and we genuinely considered it as he has stints and heavy i am overweight and heading for diabetes and my mums already there.but upon reading your notes i too can see the con.thanks guys

    • belindabel June 15, 2010 at 10:49 am #

Hi Mary, diabetes is a serious condition and needs serious thought that a quick fix solution will not be able to provide you. There are many different types of diabetes but I personally have high insulin levels, not quite diabetes but I need to watch my diet. I’d suggest sticking to a low GI diet so lots of quality meat, nuts, whole grains, apples, cheese, eggs. There is lots of information on the internet to help with that kind of thing. Believe me you will loose weight if you eat low GI foods. You definately wont starve and you can eat as much as you normally would but you will feel fuller quicker. Again, im not a doctor but from personal experience I think this is the best thing for you and your doctor or dietitian can really help you with this. Good luck! 🙂

  6. Josephine June 16, 2010 at 1:15 am #

Hi, like katrine I have purchased Trimstrips & currently I am still using it. Though I am not diligent enough to weigh and justify its effects, I do feel slimmer with my clothes hanging more loosely. I am even contemplating on getting clothes that are a size smaller and have a better fit.

However, in addition to the Trimstrips I do take the time to exercise regularly & eat healthy. BUT the one difference I felt after adding Trimstrips to my daily regime is that I see the results within a MUCH shorter period of time!!

I hope this helps and good luck!

  7. Candy T. Cane June 17, 2010 at 7:19 am #

    Hi Belinda,

I ordered this product through the mail and received it late April and have been using it every day for a month. The fact that the mail came from one Brunei and the return went to Amsterdam didn’t bother me at all, i thought it was they had offices in different countries. Since they offered a $$ gaurantee, i thought, why not?

To my surprise i actually lost 6 kilograms in 1 month. Though i would like to have lost more weight than that (The advert did say 10kg in 14days?) but at least it’s a good start. Having tried so many slimming products, believe me, I am a health company’s dream consumer :-). This one does work, i don’t know how it works, but it does.

I actually went online to see if i can order it off their website, thought it might be faster or cheaper too. Anyone knows any online ordering information, please leave it here?

Hi. I fell for this and sent a cheque 4 weeks ago. Does anyone have a number or email address they can give me so I can find out what is going on? Thankyou!!

      • Suzanne December 21, 2010 at 11:14 pm #

        Hi Sarah

here is an email address I used and always got a response. globalcustcare@gmail.com

The product didn’t work for me but I did get my money back without any problems. The product did take about 4 weeks to arrive too.

        Good luck

      • belindabel December 22, 2010 at 3:40 am #

A gmail account. That is very professional. What a credible company. Note my sarcasam.

  8. Katrine Roberstern June 17, 2010 at 7:29 am #

    @ Belindabel:

I felt TrimStrips was healthy as the ingredients are natural…

As for where I sent my money, it was just like what was stated by Belindabel – Amsterdam. I was also successful in losing 3kg … but of course I have been going to the gym once a week in the recent months. So that may contribute to the quick weight loss, I think…

I was also surprised to have received the package so quickly actually, and just as surprised to lose the weight too. But like I said, it could possibly also due to my frequent gym visit that helps to speed up the weight loss. I guess I will have to try it for a longer time to see if it really works in the longer run.

    • belindabel June 17, 2010 at 12:38 pm #

Question: What ARE the ingredients? They aren’t stated in the information because “chinese inferior product could be made”.

      • allison June 25, 2010 at 2:42 am #

        the ingredients are…fucus vesiculosus,guarana,citrus aurantium,green tea

      • belindabel June 25, 2010 at 9:48 am #

Ok so fucus vesiculosus is some form of kelp that is ment to boost the metabolism sure to its high level of iodine. Some people will have to be very careful with that and the effects on their health over all. Read more here: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-fucus-vesiculosus.htm

Guarana is that terrible stuff in energy drinks so I imagine thats there to make you kind of hyper and thus burn more energy

Green tea is high in antioxidants and is supposed to be slimming when you drink it regularly

Read about citrus aurantium here: http://fat-burners.realsolutionsmag.com/fat-burner-Citrus-Aurantium.html

Is there any other ingredients listed on the pack? There has to be more than that to make a little strip. There would have to be a bunch of chemicals.

So it looks like some of those ingredients can be bought in tablet suppliment form at your local health food shop which would probably save you a lot of money if they actually work.

I still dont see how such a tiny strip would help you loose a great deal of weight.

Could it be in peoples heads?

    • Richard Hill August 27, 2011 at 1:54 am #

Um, “natural” ingredients means nothing, it could have cyanide in it, or arsenic, both of which are “Natural”, or how about red-back spider venom or deadly night-shade extract, all of which are “Natural” but highly dangerous. Unless these products are properly analysed and clinically tested, you can never know if they are really safe or effective, they could interfere with other (prescribed) medications, as has happened in a large number of cases. Weight control is all about energy in (food) vs energy out (exercise). Diet and exercise, as you seem to have found, are the best weight control methods, certainly the most “Natural”.

  9. Katrine Roberstern June 21, 2010 at 12:35 am #

    Hi Belindabel,

Regarding TrimStrip’s ingredients – I went back to look at the package that I received in the mail, and there is no mention of any Chinese medicinal stuff in the product. It seemed like most of it are natural ingredients such as Fucus and Green Tea.

  10. Colleen M Washington June 21, 2010 at 2:01 am #

I have lost very little weight with Trim Strip. I was pretty disappointed with the little weight lost. Hence, I decided to write in and demand for my money back, since I read on the letter that there is a money back guarantee for unsatisfactory result. I then stopped taking the product. Initially, I thought that my letter has gone astray or they have ignored my request to get a refund. To my surprise, 3 weeks ago, I receive a letter with a cheque inside. Well, I am happy now to get my money back in this short time. Though the product did not work so well for me, but at least the seller take the effort to attend my request for my money back.

  11. allison June 25, 2010 at 2:34 am #

i am also from aussie land…i recieved the info on trim strips about a month ago…normally i just chuck them kind of pamflets in the bin but i thought id read through first…i decided to try this great discovery, knowing very well that it could be a scam.i recieved my thin strips 2 days ago and started yesterday.i weighed myself and in 1 week i shall do the same again…ill get back to youse and let you know how it has worked,if it has worked at all….and if it doesnt work, well at least ill get my money back 🙂

  12. Leonie July 1, 2010 at 6:10 am #

I just received the pamphlets in the mail last night…My husband & I certainly had a good laugh at it…Particularly the obese woman who now wears a red swimsuit with skinny arms, no stretchmark in sight, no loose skin and no surgical scars for removal of excess skin…photoshop sure is an asset to marketing companies! Con, con, con….Mind you, it did make me google it because of it’s ridiculous claims, so the advertising does work!

    • Fiona October 6, 2010 at 6:50 am #

Yes that was might first thought on seeing the pictures. I just got the envelope in the mail today, Australia. I couldnt understand where the loose skin from such a huge person could go with no scarring etc. I also got suspicious with the fatter version wearing glasses so it was hard to see if it was the same person.

The next thing I did was get on the web site and found this. The other thing to ask yourselves is what happens to your weight if you stop using the strips….assuming they work? They say you are required to take 3 per day. At $189 for just 9wks that is an awfully expensive diet if you have to continue taking them considering it doesnt replace your grocery bill.

As to those who were lucky enough to get a refund well I would imagine that they would be making enough money off the gullible to be able to do this and that it would ruin the scam if they didnt considering the fast effects from word of mouth on the internet.

Those of you who have lost weight well Hello??!! Yes dears I would suggest logically that it was other factors considering that no-one as yet seems to have reported losing anywhere near the promised 5kg per week!

  13. Giselle M July 6, 2010 at 9:21 am #

I also recently sent my order in for Trimstrips – I am from Aussie land too… I recently went through a really emotional break up with my boyfriend of 7 years and was feeling really low and binge-eating all the time, so really needed to get the weight off fast….

So anyway, after moping around for the past 3 months I decided it was now or never – I’m not getting any younger … I’d better get my life back on track! I got the material of Trim Strips through the mail, don’t know how they got my name… anyway, I ordered and started taking TrimStrips, and also at the same time eating more vegetables and fruits. I cut out most of the fat out of cooking …. now 2 months later, slowly but surely, the weight is falling off 🙂 I love dressing up again and going out to bars over the weekend, and dancing the night away and of course meeting new men! I’m lots happier now, so glad I gave TrimStrips a try 🙂

    • belindabel July 6, 2010 at 11:33 am #

Giselle it’s great to hear that you have been watching what you have been eating, do you think that it is your conscience effort to watching your food intake that has helped you to lose weight or do you think that it is the Trim Strips?

  14. Giselle M July 7, 2010 at 9:38 am #

Its a combination of both. Right from the start I knew if I was going to spend the money on Trim Strips then I needed to make sure I also put in effort into actively watching my food intake as well, so they can work together (and this doesn’t turn out into yet another failed diet attempt).

What I can say is very different this time with TrimStrips (from my other healthy eating attempts) is that the change happened so fast .. that my belly is now almost flat!! I used to hate having my belly touched, but now I have to remind myself the “muffin top” isn’t there anymore 🙂 So what I can say is: if anyone out there is still considering whether to try TrimStrips, an important factor they should think of is whether they are committed to also eating healthy at the same time.

    • belindabel July 7, 2010 at 11:52 am #

Its great that you have such a positive and strong outlook on your weightloss Giselle. You are certainly putting in some effort which is very healthy and will help you to keep the weight off in the long run.

I have been interested for a while in the placebo effect and found this interesting article http://resistancetraining.wordpress.com/2008/01/03/placebo-effect-and-weight-loss/

May I suggest for most people here who have lost weight with trim strips that it may be a placebo? You start off with a positive resolution to loose weight and spend a large amount of money to obtain a product which provides you with very little information on what it actaully is because it promises a magically good result. Then even before it arrives you have resolved to eat well and exercise a tiny bit more, even if it is wiggling your hips around while stiring your pot of pumpkin soup on the stove. When the product comes and you have seen the fat chunck of money taken from your bank account you have put such a positive thought in your mind that this product will help you to loose weight, and because you don’t want to waste your money you keep eating healthier and doing extra exercise to “help the product along”. When in fact, the product is more than likely a placebo that has helped your positive outlook and resloution to take charge of your body.

I think that could be a likely story. You would be suprised how the smallest amount of exercise can help weightloss. My friends mother has always been a larger lady due to her wonderful homely cooking. Recently she took up walking and has lost a considerable amount of weight!

I hope that when those who have purchased Trim Strips supplies run out that they continue their healthy eating and exercise so that they can lead a positive, happy, healthy life!

  15. sandee July 9, 2010 at 5:03 am #

i bookmarked your website so i could come back later to see how many people claimed “trim strips really work!” & i cannot believe the stupidity of some people. i’m sorry, but that is the nicest way to put it. in no way do i believe that you purchased some listerine strips that helped you lose weight. we’re always looking for “quick fixes” but they don’t exist & they don’t work. i am proud to say i’ve lost 20kgs recently through watching what i eat & exercising. if you all weren’t fat lazy slobs you would realise the hard work pays off & it works. oh & its cheaper.

    • belindabel July 9, 2010 at 5:17 am #

I like the way you think Sandee! 🙂 Congratulations on losing so much weight the healthy way!

    • Candy T. Cane July 14, 2010 at 7:04 am #

      Sandee,

I think its great that you’ve lost all that weight through purely exercising and eating. For those of us who lack the will power and time exercise, we do look for aids to help us in our quest for weight loss. I am now on my second batch of trim strips as i was happy with losing 6 kilos in the first month alone. I am starting to take the strips again, and would probably post my progress at a later date.

Like i said, since you’ve lost 20 kgs from dieting and exercising, we are all very very impressed. But for some of us who look for alternatives that fit our lifestyles, please don’t knock us down by calling us fat slobs. Besides, if you’ve not tried the product, don’t contradict the rest of us who actually did.

Good job on the weight loss!

  16. Giselle M July 14, 2010 at 8:55 am #

I wasn’t sure at first what a placebo effect was that Belinda talked about – but upon reading the rest of her earlier post I started to realise that she thinks that the reason TrimStrips worked for me was because I “made” it work by believing in the first place that it works. I actually found that very funny – that through sheer force of belief I made my stomach become flat … lol.

Yes, I was watching what I ate more after taking TrimStrips, but that alone would not have resulted in my quick weight loss. I’d like to hear more comments from anyone who took TrimStrips but unlike me, did not watch their diet at the same time?

    • Fiona October 6, 2010 at 7:02 am #

Hmmm I repeat. You only lost 6kg. They promised far more and that in itself is false advertising.

No I chose not to try it because I dont like to waste my money on scams. I really do feel sorry for those of you who are out of pocket on this and worse still and hell bent on believing it works! It kind of reminds me of the Pyramid scam. Many people continued to believe it works even after it was proved to be a set up from the start……very sad really.

No I would never call anyone a fat lazy slob just because they are desperate to believe in anything. That isnt serving any purpose here. The main purpose is to educate people to recognise when they are being had. We all have the potential to be conned regardless. I was once via some silly berry thing where I had to change my credit card to stop huge deductions. I was very low and vulnerable at the time. It was very embarassing having to ring the bank I must say but at least it will never happen to me again!!

  17. tracy August 3, 2010 at 7:42 am #

i dont no how they got my address but i have ordered them though i have not got them yet getting worried now

  18. Suzanne August 10, 2010 at 12:56 pm #

I also ordered Trim Strips against my better judgement but figured that it wasn’t a huge amount of money to lose if I did lose it. Unfortunately the product has not worked for me which is disappointing but not completely suprising but I did indeed get my money back and have found the customer service dept very helpful. So no harm done other than being a bit disappointed. I’d love to hear some more success stories though.
They are going to recommend another product for me and I will give that a go as well now that I have more faith in the company.

  19. Christine Sutherland October 8, 2010 at 6:39 am #

    Oh dear.

First let’s pretend that trim strips actually does work. Even in that case they would only work as long as you used them, which is a minimum of $1097.20 per annum. As soon as you stopped, the weight would just come back. Just like a diet, except that you’re more than a thousand dollars out of pocket.

Second let’s take a closer look at what some people have mentioned here regarding the before and after photos. When people get very fat they grow a lot of extra skin and membranes to cover a much bigger body. When they then lose a lot of weight, or lose weight fast, their skin doesn’t just suddenly shrink. They are left with great hanging flaps of skin and tissue especially under the arms (the “bat wings”) and a major flap of skin and tissue over the belly. At this stage the only way to remove the flaps is extensive and risky surgery, which leaves major scarring.

This is just one of the many reasons that fast weight loss should be avoided. There are around a dozen health risks from fast weight loss, metabolic damage being amongst them. Slow weight loss gives the skin time to adjust and shrink to normal form and is not such an insult to the bodies regulatory systems.

Another point I’d like to make is that it’s physically impossible to maintain a weight loss of much more than 1 kilo a week. Anything more than that is likely to be fluid and/or muscle mass and this also has huge risks. It is not possible to lose 63 kilos of fat in 12 weeks. And it is not possible to get into size 8 clothes when you have gigantic flaps of skin hanging off you.

The models in this advertising may have lost weight – we have no way of knowing. But one thing we can be 100% certain of is that the slim pictures are absolutely false, as are the statements about being “size 8” unless the models had surgery to remove the skin flaps.

There is no detail here about the company, its scientists, its research or its patents. There isn’t even a physical address. The ambiguous references to unnamed studies reek of fraud. This is a mystery company with a mystery product.

Unfortunately there are so many desperate people who will suspend their common sense and intelligence and actually send money.

Incidentally, the company comments masquerading above as consumer reports are very easily spotted. The superfluous adjectives and jingoistic comments are such a giveaway.

    • Fiona October 8, 2010 at 10:29 pm #

Well said Christine! Im afraid, however, that some people simply wont or cant listen to logic as frustrating as it is. Giselle is the perfect example. She is very honest in stating that she is exercising and eating healthily but still believes the Strips have a huge part to play in her losing weight.

What they all need to revisit is the advertising. It not only promises a weight loss of 5kg per week it go further to state you DONT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE! They also boldly state that no one has asked for their money back because it hasnt not worked for anyone….”it simply hasnt happened” is the exact quote. Well we know that this isnt true just by ALL of the comments above, ie, no-one has lost 5kg per week and no-one has done nothing else!

I wonder if anyone has thought to have the strips analysed to see exactly what they contain. It would be funny if they were in fact breath freshner strips…..hmmm….well it would for me anyway 🙂

  20. Sandy October 8, 2010 at 3:38 pm #

I received this envelope today. It’s an airmail. I was surprised to see this envelope because I never received an airmail before. I’m in Malaysia and I’m 16. How can they have my full name and my home address? I fell really unsecured! However, this letter is from Switzerland but not Brunei. The return is to Singapore. I’m wondering whether I want to try it or not.

    • Fiona October 10, 2010 at 10:14 pm #

What I suggest you do Sandy is to read all of the above responses and try to remain objective…..that is dont let your desire to lose weight overpower common sense and logic.

Quick fixes even when they do work short term can actually cause what is known as diet enduced obeisity ( you get even fatter than what you were before you dieted) simply because your body doesnt know what the hell to get used to and throws a wobbly so to speak. I hope this offers you some help in your decision?

  21. Anu October 11, 2010 at 9:51 am #

I received the envelope today. Read through every bit of information in details. To my surprise the letter had no company name or phone number or any contact details. It had the order form, I was quite interested to reading this pamphlets, wanted to know more about it. I have lost 30 kg just by exercising and it took me 3 years to do this. When reading “losing 10kg in 14 days” it was eye catching. But I always believe that when it comes to body…. natural way is the best way !!!!

  23. Teresa October 12, 2010 at 5:24 am #

Wow. This is very interesting as I myself just receive the same mail today.
I’m in Australia and the source of the letter is from Malaysia.

Just wondering if we can report this to any government bodies so that they can stop the scam spreading to the innocent victims.

  24. jenna October 20, 2010 at 9:46 am #

I was wondering the same thing how do they get not only your address but your name it’s very weird! and I only just moved to the NT from tassie a few months ago.

  25. Fiona October 20, 2010 at 10:54 pm #

Maybe the Australian Skeptics Association can be of assistance. They are forever exposing this sort of fraud. As I didnt purchase the strips and threw away the material I dont think I would be of much use to them. If someone there has kept the material I am sure they would be able to investigate things properly?

  26. Giselle M October 22, 2010 at 2:04 am #

Wow, haven’t been back to this blog for a while since I first tried Trim Strips but looks like there are many out there very skeptical of this product! But I think I what I have to share with you below will make you re-think all the remarks above!

I read a very interesting article recently on rapid weight loss : Researchers have now shown that the best way to lose weight is to lose a lot of it at once, contrary to popular belief even among doctors that weight should be lost slowly – by University of Melbourne, so you know this is a reputable source! . For the complete research paper see:
    http://www.news-medical.net/news/20100715/Rapid-weight-loss-the-best-Study.aspx

Anyway, I have now already finished my first order of Trim Strips (I got the 3 weeks supply), and am very tempted to re-order to lose more weight, since it worked so well for me. However, I am going to try to keep the weight I lost from Trim Strips off on my own, see if that works… although my friends have warned me the weight will come back on now I’ve stopped taking it. Either way, it was just amazing how the weight I gained just melted off after 3 short weeks, so if fast weight loss is what you’re looking for you can’t go wrong with this product.

    • Suzanne October 22, 2010 at 2:12 am #

How much did you lose Giselle?
It didn’t work for me but I did get all of my money back so no harm done other than lost hope……

  27. Fiona October 22, 2010 at 3:12 am #

Gizelle you really need to read such articles fully before leaping to the conclusions you want to hear. The research you talk about was purely to ascertain which method was the most successful in reaching a weight loss target. If you read on, however, it says that the drawback is that there has been no follow up to ascertain how well the subjects have kept off the weight. It adds that rapid weight loss is often related to more weight gain after and therefore less maintenance. This is what is commonly termed diet induced obeisity.

  28. Giselle M November 2, 2010 at 3:19 am #

I lost 8 KG since I started on TrimStrips!!!

Fiona: I do hear what you’re saying, that people should be careful about the reseach they read… for me though, I reallly needed to lose that 8kg FAST. I don’t think a slow, gradual weight loss approach over many months would have worked for me – I don’t have the patience :p

Anyway, there’s a ton of research out there, but for me (I don’t speak for anyone else, lol) I feel so much better now, so much more confident, and overall just happy with my body. It such a great feeling, and TrimStrips really helped. Give it a try, you can get your money back even if it doesn’t work for you, but there’s no reason why it wouldn’t – I think that’s why the company is able to give such a good no-questions asked guarantee.

  29. Fiona November 2, 2010 at 4:37 am #

Well Im glad you feel good about your body Giselle and I sincerely hope it lasts for you. I can see though that even if it were proven beyond any doubt that the strips are not responsible for your weight loss you would choose to ignore it.

I have no desire to try it as I am pretty certain that it doesn’t work and that even if it did I do not want to be stuck with having to use them forever. My idea of a good diet is one that is permanent and realistic.

I am not overly overweight either so that might make a difference in terms of desperation I guess. I however have chosen to adapt a more overall healthy lifestyle. I have quit smoking and as a consequence gained some kilos but know that it will only be a temporary thing if I stick to healthy eating habits. I used to be very skinny and this was because of my smoking habit. Not a good way to be so I actually prefer to be a bit overweight than the way I was before.

  30. Marieke January 17, 2011 at 5:35 pm #

    Hey everyone,

I am from the Netherlands and I just received the envelope and googled the product to find out whether it is a scam. You might find it interesting to know that they have used a different picture ( a completely different person) of Dr. Andrew Gower for the Dutch version than the one shown above. It is a scam. Don’t buy the strips.

    • belindabel January 17, 2011 at 10:47 pm #

Hi Marieke thanks for commenting. That is so funny that they changed the guys picture. I can’t believe that this mailout is going all over the world. Surely if they have a good product they could start selling it in physical stores rather than scammy ways like this.

  31. Anna May 6, 2011 at 10:33 am #

I live in Norway, and I got this in the mail a few days ago, but the picture of “Dr. Andrew Gower” is of another man than your picture! Weird! :p

    • belindabel May 6, 2011 at 11:20 am #

Hi Anna, someone else said that they received the letter with a different photo of “Dr Gower” too. Perhaps they realised just how stupid, fake and unprofessional the photo looked.

  32. Therese F Mathisen May 6, 2011 at 8:09 pm #

Hi there! I find it soooo funny to see your comments on this product. The exactly same product is sold in Norway; but “funny enough” with another Dr Andrew Gower (our Andrew is about 20 years older!). You can find my comments on the product in a Norwegian blogg; http://kvinnetrening.blogg.no/1304684247_dette_er_tjener_de_st.html
but I guess it wont mean a thing to you, as it’s written in Norwegian – but the text is more or less the same as your thoughts here! 🙂
    Regards from Norwegian dietist!

    • belindabel May 7, 2011 at 2:35 am #

Hi Therese, I was able to read your blog with Google translators help. It is amazing that the promotions for this product is being sent around the world. Did you receive it in your mail box? I wonder who is pushing this product. Are they called Slim Strips there? I’m glad you can have a laugh at how crazy this product sounds too. 🙂 Thanks for your comment.

  33. soul_winner June 30, 2011 at 3:16 pm #

    now in malaysia too!

  34. Richard Hill August 27, 2011 at 1:40 am #

Just received it in the mail, Instant alarm bells, “It is a scam” The bottom line at $189 (Australian) for a 3 month supply, and then all of your credit card details, date of birth, e-mail, phone AND to top it off, your CVV number off your credit card all sounds like Phishing. Lose your identity and find that someone has booked up a River Nile cruise on your card…

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS OFFER IT HAS TO BE DANGEROUS!!

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true (which it does) then it probably isn’t true.

  35. Joanne R August 27, 2011 at 9:24 am #

This product is still being mailed out. Very sus that they want all your details no contact number to ring them no website u think after well over a yr or even longer that they havin a website or even a contact number I Looked back at all the comments that have been made and still a bit confused about the people that have tried this Are they genuine people or maybe scammers themselves and the picture of the Doc is an old bloke? If anyone has a contact number or know a website for this product please let me know

  36. Mullina September 8, 2011 at 5:57 am #

I too have received the letter etc, my partner & i really want to give it a go even though my better judgement says not to send the money….
I like everyone else can not find a website for these people, there is however a Nutrifirt website for products that are body building products that are situated in singapore http://www.nutrifirst.net/ but i cant find a weightloss product on here like the advertised Trim strips… I really want to know if the people on this site who have actually ordered the product & tried it either to work or not & the ones who have got their money back are actually real people or just possibly people from the company mailing out these letters….
I have the form right in front of me & my partner & myself have discussed paying the money to give it a go… I work night shift (in a fairly hands on busy occupation) & really dont have the energy or the time to be able to constantly exercise, i do eat healthily most of the time & yet i still struggle with my weight & have done ever since i was a young child, the doctors really dont seem to help me or even want to help me, right down to when i was living of the lettuce leaf & almost killing myself at the gym for at least 2-3 hours 5 times a week & still could not shift the weight….. so what does someone like myself do when there is no help no matter what avenue you try??

    • belindabel September 8, 2011 at 10:16 am #

Mullina, ask yourself the question, “if this really was a miracle fat buster wouldnt everyone know about how amazing it is?”. I truly believe it would not work. how could it? Everyones bodies and metabolisms are different. I would say see a doctor who can run blood tests on you to find out why you arent losing weight despite your healthy efforts. I’m not a doctor, but that makes logical sense to me. Good luck! 🙂

  37. Fiona September 8, 2011 at 10:47 am #

Absolute rubbish! You I believe are part of the scam you profess not to be! You are just crapping on about everything everyone else has to say to counteract things. Very sad and very bad in terms of morality! i hope you dont sleep well at night for being part of the scam!

    • Fiona September 8, 2011 at 11:03 am #

ok maybe a bit harsh if you are truly just naive? So sorry if that is the case. I guess I just cant believe people can be that way to this degree?!

    • belindabel September 8, 2011 at 11:16 am #

are you talking about me or about Mullina? Because there is no way I would believe this scammy marketing

  38. Fiona September 8, 2011 at 11:20 am #

Sorry not you Mulina. But I think I may have been harsh? Yikes!

    • belindabel September 8, 2011 at 11:22 am #

Yeah…. kinda harsh… But sometimes you just need to tell the logical argument. 🙂

  39. Mullina September 8, 2011 at 1:10 pm #

I’m nothing to do with this scam at all & i really wanted to hear from people who had good news out of trying this….in hopes just maybe it wasnt a scam even though my first thought was that it is also
My better judgement actually talked my partner out of sending the money away for this & we went to our local pharmacist & asked them about several of the different products you can buy off the shelf & what they did & the way they worked & we actually got something from there to try out….
& yes Fiona you were definately a little harsh, some people are actually desperate for something that works, we cant all have the perfect weight & bodies that some obviously have that can make such assuptions about others who are not nieve but desperate for something that will actually work.

  40. Fiona September 8, 2011 at 1:26 pm #

I do apologise here. I guess I was a bit concerned about the comments supporting the scam. That is faking it to seem legitimate. I guess I got a wee bit frustrated so my sincere apologies if you are in fact legitimate 🙂

  41. Mullina September 8, 2011 at 1:40 pm #

It’s ok i can understand the frustration as i really wanted it not to be a scam & even with the peoples comments earlier about the product it still didnt sway me to buy it or even to send my money not to be seen again, so i am right with you on the frustration & i get so annoyed that people try their hardest to abuse other peoples trust the way they do & also to pick a group of people who are already obviously uneasy about themselves & their bodies (to want to give this thing a go) just to rip them off, steal their money & possibly more & leave them to hope that one day their product or money may turn up.
Scammers are horrible people & all i can do is be thankful that people like Belinda who run these sorts of sites are around to help out the people who are too nieve & do believe in these things.

  42. Fiona September 8, 2011 at 2:01 pm #

exactly so. There have been numerous comments on this site saying various things like…yeah I paid my money and wasnt happy but eventually got my money back (therefore feel ok about it all as you will get your money back. That just raises hair on my back Im afraid. I just HATE people that feed off their insecurities! So I do again apologise for my paranoia? :O

  43. Syena Shakre September 13, 2011 at 12:47 pm #

My mom received the mail today, and I guess the mail now has reached Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 🙂
I was very excited to find out how this ‘miracle’ product works. Lucky that I found this site.
For those who have managed to lose weight by using Trim Strips, congratulations.

    • Charmayne armstrong March 17, 2013 at 7:56 pm #

They didn’t work for me, ive been taking them for three months straight and no weight loss, twice a day like instructed!!!!! I feel bamboozled seriously…..

  44. Fiona September 14, 2011 at 1:30 pm #

Love your simple reply…I think I should have done that rather than resort to sheer frustration? 🙂

  45. Jackie November 6, 2011 at 3:13 pm #

HI All, Yesterday I received a letter re Fast Svelte Strips, the same as your Trim Strips. It looks like they have changed the name of the product ) Btw I am located in the Netherlands and it this bug is travelling around the globe, to hit hard on anyone who would fall for the great promises…. amazing what you can find on the internet. Check you tube, and find an actual picture of this doctor Andrew Gower, just a young guy with a good running scam!

Reading the brochure I was wondering about the enormous weight loss and was thinking what happens to the skin?!! It is mentioned no where! Weird!! Are they all having surgery? Or???
Specific when you loose 5 kilos per week, your body can’t coop with it! The amount of loose skin will be enormous, and you will not fit a size 36 haha what a joke!
Thanks for sharing all the information and yes loosing weight would be nice, but believe me, take it slowly, eat healthy and exercise! And have faith!

    Cheers
    Jackie

  46. Charmayne armstrong March 17, 2013 at 7:49 pm #

Well I purchased some about three months ago and I feel scammed, I haven’t lost any weight..I feel really stupid for letting myself get bamboozled…..
